Networking is not my preferred pleasure. I am having the same issues with a different router. It is the linksys wcg I have read this thread, but since I am pretty much a novice,I have a couple additional questions if you don’t mind before I proceed any further. I am considering trying to set a static address for my xbox and configuring the ports. The issue for me is that I have 2 xbox ‘s in my house, as well as a pc. They are both experiencing the same issues,so I think it’s the router.

I tried to give myself a little more time to play the game before writing this post, but I feel like I got the basic gist of things after about 7 hours of playing between the normal multiplayer modes as well as a few hours last night with the new Spec-Ops mode. This is pretty much the reason why most people bought the game. The original Modern Warfare was incredible online and brought a whole new level to the game with the inclusion of unlockable guns and perks, among other things, but could MW2 surpass what was given to is in the first go around… In a simple answer, absolutely.

I’ll bet if you look around the Steam groups you will more than likely find plenty of MW2 groups to join. So no the community isn’t dead. It may not be like other games but making a community is still available. Steam gives the tools necessary to create a community. While MW2 makes things a bit different compared to other games it isnt all that hard to organize a game. But are these really communities? To me, there’s a difference between groups, and communities.
I don’t doubt that Steam gives tools necessary to create communities. Having tools to create communities doesn’t necessarily guarantee a community will be born. Nor is MW2 Steam. Rather, it’s a game on Steam. There’s a difference between being able to find a game and having voice chat, and having a community. With dedicated servers, it’s possible to create house rules.
They don’t make bad games but they make you pay for everything. The problem was, on launch day, the servers weren’t ready, so literally nobody could play it. They don’t listen to gamers who are playing and notice bugs, failures etc. Patches don’t work or don’t fix the major problems. Patience of gamers are being tested to the max.

Posts 23, I’m waiting for more reviews and comments first. We’ve been hosting COD dedicated servers since the very first game comes out and we pretty much know what to look out for in a game. The comments I posted is not by me, its by another person. I’m just browsing thru. A post from the Steam forum: I just spent nearly 2 hours reading every review I could find on this game which, until prior to reading the reviews, was my most highly anticipated title this year after DAO.

Well, that was …interesting. After all the hype, all the advertising, and all the controversy, what did you expect? Completing each mission earns you 1, 2, or 3 stars, giving those who need to complete everything an added challenge. And, of course, the game features multiplayer.
Kill the ability for pirated copies of MW2 to be played online. While it’s honestly most likely to be reasons D and F, one can’t be too surprised if Infinity Ward tried to make IWNet a pay-for service, maybe not for MW2, but for other games coming down the pipeline.
I wanted to wait a bit before posting this, but after the uploading of this video, more and more people are starting to join up before, it was dead – nobody were on any servers. This is the official successor to alterIWnet, the highly successful MW2 mod. Unfortunately, Activision had it killed off in March by use of legal action. The person who created the source code for aIW then created a new community, which is expected to stand.
For those not in the know about these clients, when the official IWnet was created, the game had no dedicated servers. Absolutely terrible for the PC enviroment. With these, almost anything is possible in MW2. Whatever game modes, mods, specifications, crazy stuff you can think of can be made.

History[ edit ] The idea of GamersGate was conceived by Paradox Interactive in after numerous fan requests for better access to Paradox’s games were finally answered in the form of direct downloads. After Paradox sold a game to an Argentine fan via a download link that was later removed, word spread on the Paradox forums and international fans began asking if they too could purchase video games through downloads. On 20 November , the system was officially launched under the name “Gamer’s Gate”.
Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Impressions. Tom. Matchmaking seems to be a lot better and actually lets you know how many games it found that will work, then it looks for the best connection and dumps you into that lobby. Not sure about weapons pack although I know some people on the PC have poked around and found the existence of other.
Hello, and thanks for reading the thread Im posting regarding a very annoying problem with the game modern warfare 2. I first purchased it for the PC. The matchmaking worked absolutely fine. I could find games fast. Then i bought it for the and the matchmaking is disgusting. It takes me 30 minutes to find a game in non peak, And most of the time its a one bar ping game and during peak it takes me 10 minutes.
It just has the Testing matches 0. Considering a person who lives down the block from me, has around the same internet, and can find games instantly, this is terrible. Okay infinity ward, dont find me any games, but no need to tease me when there are joinable games.. I have opened every port possible on my xbox. I know this is dangerous and leaves it open, but im at the end of my rope with this problem That being said, my NAT type is open, and always has been.
Xbox Live support rallies to fix ‘MW2’ Stimulus Package problem
Questions, assumptions, and speculation I intend to dispel. Modern Warfare 2 is actually the biggest investment Infinity Ward has ever made into the PC version of our games. IWNET takes the benefits of dedicated servers and allows them to be utilized and accessed by every player, out of the box, while removing the barrier to entry for players unaware of how to maintain a server on their own.
How does it do this? When you want to player a multiplayer game on PC, in the past.
According to an FAQ on the Call of Duty Community forums by FourZeroTwo himself it is now confirmed that COD:MW3 will continue with the poor and pathetic P2P matchmaking system that COD:MW2 employed for all RANKED games and the previously mentioned dedicated servers that were announced will be UNRANKED only. The benefit here – if you really even want to call it a benefit since the .
He now lives in snowy Toronto, Canada. Back in we all marvelled at iD’s Tech 3 engine reborn as a cracking WWII shooter that featured not only an extensive and well structured campaign mode, but some of the most addictive and groundbreaking multiplayer action since Gooseman decided Half-Life Deathmatch just wasn’t interesting enough. Call of Duty 2 followed a couple of years later, proving that sequels don’t always have to be hollow representations of the original product. All was well in the world, and developers Infinity Ward rode a well-deserved wave of critical success.
Then, something unusual happened. Development of the franchise split in two different directions, one very much angled towards the PC market, the other the next-gen console base.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Matchmaking?
Share on Linkedin We, as citizens of a country with less than stellar internet services, prefer to play our multiplayer games with local gamers as opposed to international randoms as it considerably reduces lag, making for better gaming. Alright, let me attempt to clarify as much as possible as its clear that there is some misunderstanding on how matchmaking works in Modern Warfare 2 for international users.
There is no need to include an additional toggle where you manually have to ask it to put you in the game best suited for your connection, that should all be done automatically without requiring you, the player, to go through an extra step to request it. Meaning, matchmaking will automatically put you in the best game for YOUR connection. Which is why I assure you a lot of your concerns will be unfounded come launch. So I encourage you, put away the pitchforks and torches for the moment until you see it in action.
Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling took to the Call of Duty forums and gave some exclusive information about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s PC version.
When I play a game I don’t play it for the mods or the clans or any of that and the majority of the people out there are the same way. I’m tired of searching for a game only to get kicked out after a few minutes because they are waiting for a buddy to join or the server admin thinks I’m hacking. I understand there are a lot of people who play competitively and they want to have that control but this game is developed by IW and they have the say whether or not they want to allow certain things with their game.
And to be honest, this game is going to sell so well on the consoles that it probably wasn’t even worth their time to port it to PC. Bash me if you want, just stating my opinion. I agree with you wholeheartedly, I also would like the option to just click “connect me to a team deathmatch game”. But you can have a system like that and still have dedicated servers. They had dedicated servers, and an automatch feature.
